Uyghur conflict claims new lives

Sixteen people have been killed in a clash in China's western region of Xinjiang, home to the Muslim Uyghur ethnic minority.

The incident took place late on Sunday in a village near the city of Kashgar. State media reports said that police tried to make arrests when they were attacked by people armed with explosive devices and knives. Two police officers were killed and 14 of the attackers were shot dead.

Verifying reports from the region is difficult because the information is tightly controlled but the report said that an investigation has been launched and two suspects have been arrested.

Lately Chinese authorities have noticed an increase in "terrorism acts".

Last month, state media reported the death of nine civilians and two police officers in an attack on a police station near Kashgar. In late October, five people were killed when a car crashed through crowds and then burst into flames in Beijing's Tiananmen Square. Beijing qualified the incident as a terrorist attack inspired by Xinjiang-linked extremists. Three people who died inside the car were identified by police as Xinjiang Uyghur's.

Opinion:

Troubles between the Chinese government and the Uyghur community have existed for a long time.  

In Chine I met some Uyghur people and I can tell they have a really different culture and a different religion. I think that's why there are troubles between the two parties because some of the Han people don't really understand the way the Uyghur live and think. They should allow more space, more freedom, first in the daily life and second in their religion and culture.

I think they should at least it.

The Chinese government should also grant them a better share of the economic development of the country and not leave them apart because when most people are poor and don't feel safe in their homeland,  that can be a reason to become violent.
  

Nouveaux incidents en pays Ouïghour.

Seize personnes été tuées lors d'un incident dans la région chinoise de Xinjing située à l'ouest de la Chine et qui abrite la minorité musulmane Uyghur.

L'incident a eu lieu dimanche dans un village près de la ville Kashgar.

Les médias officiels indiquent que la police procédait à une arrestation quand ils ont été attaqués par des gens armés d'engins explosifs et de couteaux. Deux officiers de police sont morts et 14 assaillants ont été tués par balle.

Ces éléments sont difficiles à vérifier car l'information dans la région est strictement contrôlée mais le rapport indique qu'une enquête a été lancée et deux suspects ont été arrêtés. Dernièrement  les autorités chinoises ont recensé de nombreux "actes terroristes". Le mois dernier, les médias gouvernementaux ont rapporté la mort de 9 civils et deux officiers de police au cours de l'attaque d'un commissariat près de Kashgar.

En octobre dernier, cinq personnes ont été tuées quand une voiture a foncé dans la foule puis a explosé sur la place Tianamen à Pékin. Les autorités chinoises ont qualifié l'incident d'attaque chinoise.inspiré par les extrémistes de droite du Xinjiang. Les troispersonnes qui sont mortes dans la voiture ont été identifiées comme des Ouïgours du Xinjiang.
Opinion:

Depuis longtemps il y a des problèmes entre le gouvernement chinois et les Ouïghours.

 Je suis déjà allée en Chine et j'y ai rencontré des Ouïghours et je peux affirmer qu'ils ont une culture et une religion très différentes. C'est pourquoi il y a des problèmes entre les deux parties, car la majorité Han ne comprend pas vraiment leur manière de vivre et penser.

Ils devraient leur laisser plus d'espace, plus de liberté, premièrement dans leur vie quotidienne et deuxièmement dans leur religion et leur culture. Je pense qu'ils devraient au moins respecter leur culture.

Le gouvernement devrait également les laisser profiter du développement économique de la Chine et ne pas les laisser à part car quand une majorité de gens sont pauvres et ne se sentent pas en sécurité dans leur patrie, ça peut être une raison pour devenir violent.
