Ji Zhongxing was sentenced to 6 years in prison after this incident that occurred earlier in the year on July 20th. He is a disabled man who has been found guilty of causing the public explosion after detonating a home-made bomb at the Beijing international airport. He was already wheelchair bound but the explosion also caused him to lose a hand. He pleaded not guilty to the charges of voluntarily detonating the bomb in Terminal 3, fortunately there weren’t any other severe injuries.
In court Ji Zhongxing claimed that his setting of the bomb was unintended and it was the result of “negligence”. The judge & jury sympathised a bit after it was brought up that he had been left paralysed as a result of being beaten by police officers in 2005.
After, he had been paralysed Ji joined a group petitioners who desperately ask for justice from the government in Beijing.
Mr Ji later claimed that he had been at the airport to distribute leaflets looking for help to get justice.
Mr Ji isn’t the only petitioner trying to get media attention, many of them want to prompt the press to echo their grievances.  For example last year a man blew himself up in a government building because they were demolishing his home and in June this year 47 people died after a street vendor who wanted to protest against the local law enforcement agents set fire to a fully packed bus.
