President Hu Jintao visits Cuba

This week, China’s President Hu Jintao went to Cuba, in order to meet and sign accords with Cuban President Raul Castro.
"My visit is aimed at increasing friendship and co-operation between our two nations, and working together with our Cuban comrades to build a promising future." China leader said.
China granted a credit of 70 million dollars to Cuba, to renovate and modernize Cuban hospitals, and Mr Hu agreed to restructure Cuba’s debt.
Furthermore, China arrived in Cuba with 4.5 tonnes of humanitarian assistance, following three hurricanes which recently affected the island.
President Hu also met Fidel Castro, the former leader of Cuba who couldn’t continue to head the island because of his frail health.
Today, China is the second commercial partner of Cuba with 2,6 billion dollars exchanged in 2007, behind Venezuela.
Finally, even if China and Cuba are both communist states, their systems are quite different. Indeed, China has established market economics whereas Cuba still controls a big part of its economy.

Visite présidentielle chinoise à Cuba

Cette semaine, le président chinois Hu Jintao s’est rendu a Cuba, afin de rencontrer et de signer des accords avec le président Raul Castro.
« Ma visite a pour but d’améliorer la relation et la coopération entre nos deux nations, et de travailler avec nos camarades cubains afin de construire un avenir prometteur » a dit le dirigeant chinois.
La Chine a accordé un crédit de 70 millions de dollars à Cuba pour rénover et moderniser les hôpitaux cubains et M. Hu a accepté de restructurer la dette de Cuba.
De plus, la Chine a apporté 4,5 tonnes d’aide humanitaire, pour aider Cuba à la suite des trois ouragans qui ont récemment touché l’île.
Le président Hu a également rencontré Fidel Castro, l’ancien dirigeant de Cuba qui a dû abandonner le pouvoir en raison de son état de santé.
La Chine est aujourd’hui le deuxième partenaire commercial de Cuba, derrière le Venezuela, avec 2,6 milliards de dollars échangés en 2007.
Enfin, même si la China et Cuba sont deux états communistes, leurs systèmes sont très différents. En effet, la Chine a instauré une économie de marché, alors que Cuba contrôle encore 90% de son économie.
