US web-hijacked by Chinese company

A report of US investigators issued on Wednesday established that in April, a Chinese company, China Telecom, diverted US government websites like the US Army’s, the NASA’s, the Senate’s, etc. During 18 minutes, 15 percent of the world’s websites traffics were directed to China. The experts cannot say if the hijacking was intentional and a Pentagon spokeswoman declared that they didn’t think that any of their data was compromised. They are not even sure that the Chinese government played any part in this hijacking but incidents like that could have serious implications. The Pentagon declared it will revalue its security measures.

The Chinese government and China Telecom rejected all these accusations yesterday and announced that China will never do anything to harm other countries’ security. The government declared that the report is biased by the Cold war’s way of thinking and that there must be more mutual trust and cooperation between the United States and China.

Une compagnie chinoise accusée du détournement de sites internet américains

Un rapport d’experts américains a établi mercredi dernier qu’une entreprise chinoise, China Telecom, a détourné plusieurs sites internet du gouvernement américain, entre autres, ceux de l’US Army, de la NASA, du Sénat. Pendant 18 minutes, 15 pour cent de la circulation d’informations sur internet ont été détournés par la Chine.

Les experts ne peuvent cependant pas dire si le détournement était intentionnel ou si le gouvernement chinois a quelque chose à voir là-dedans. Une représentante du Pentagone a déclaré qu’aucun fichier ne semblait avoir été compromis mais que le Pentagone allait réviser ses mesures de sécurité, un tel incident pouvant avoir de très graves conséquences.

Le gouvernement chinois à quant à lui rejeté hier toute accusation le concernant et annoncé que la Chine n’entreprendrait jamais rien qui puisse mettre en péril la sécurité d’autres pays. Il a déclaré que le rapport a été influencé par le mode d’analyse de la Guerre Froide et qu’il comptait à l’avenir sur une plus grande confiance et coopération entre les Etats-Unis et la Chine.
