China on the Moon

China successfully deployed a robotic rover onto the Moon on Sunday, carrying out the world's first lunar touchdown in nearly four decades. The Chang'e-3 was launched from a base in South-west China on December 2 before beginning a descent to the surface of the moon later on Saturday night.

The robot, a six wheeled rover designed to photograph and study the Moon’s surface, was released from the unmanned Chang’e-3 spacecraft to perform the first soft landing on the Moon. The robotic vehicle rolled down a ramp lowered by the lander on to the volcanic plain known as Sinus Iridum. The rover was scheduled to embark on a three-month scientific exploration on the Moon’s surface.

It is called “Yutu” or "Jade Rabbit," the pet of Chang'e, the goddess of the moon in Chinese mythology.

The mission marks the next stage in an ambitious space program that aims to eventually put a man on the Moon.

The ability to send a spacecraft on the Moon represents a major step forwards for a country that appears determined to push deeper into the conquest of space. That is why China's space program is an enormous source of pride for the ambitious country, the third to carry out a landing after the United States and the former Soviet Union. This lunar probe boosts the “Chinese dream”.

Opinion : This mission is particularly symbolic as it aims to show that China is determined to actually get on with space exploration and it is also an opportunity to demonstrate to the world its technical prowess. The moon was mentioned in Chinese texts in ancient times. At the moment, China takes its first steps on the Moon and the country must be really proud.

La Chine sur la Lune

La Chine a déployé avec succès un vaisseau robotisé sur la Lune dimanche, effectuant le premier atterrissage lunaire du monde depuis presque quatre décennies. Le Chang’e-3 a été lancé d’une base du Sud-ouest de la Chine le 2 décembre avant d’entamer une descente sur la surface de la Lune samedi soir.

Le robot chinois, un engin à six roues conçu pour photographier et étudier la surface de la Lune, s’est détaché du vaisseau spatial sans pilote Chang’e-3 avant d'effectuer le premier atterrissage en douceur sur la Lune. Le véhicule robotisé a descendu une rampe déployée par le vaissseau sur la plaine volcanique connue sous le nom de Sinus Iridum. Il a été prévu que l’engin effectue une exploration scientifique de trois mois sur la surface de la Lune.

Il est appelé "Yutu" ou "Lapin de Jade," l'animal de compagnie de Chang'e, la déesse de la lune dans la mythologie chinoise.

La mission marque une nouvelle étape du programme spatial ambitieux qui a pour but de finalement envoyer un homme sur la Lune.

La capacité à envoyer un vaisseau spatial sur la Lune représente une étape majeure pour un pays qui apparaît déterminé à pousser toujours plus loin la conquête spatiale. C’est pourquoi le programme spatial de la Chine est une énorme source de fierté pour ce pays ambitieux, le troisième à effectuer un atterrissage sur la Lune après les Etats-Unis et l’ancienne Union soviétique. Cette investigation stimule le « rêve chinois ».

Opinion : Cette mission est particulièrement symbolique et démontre que la Chine est déterminée à continuer l'exploration spatiale. C’est aussi une occasion de montrer au monde ses prouesses techniques.
La lune a été mentionnée dans des textes de l'Antiquité chinoise. A présent, la Chine fait ses premiers pas sur la Lune et le pays doit être vraiment fier.
